Drug Rehab Cedar Falls

Iowa Alcohol & Addiction Treatment Center

Radix Recovery provides drug rehab, alcohol rehab, medical detox, and addiction treatment for Cedar Falls residents and UNI students at our Cedar Rapids campus, about an hour southeast via US-20 and I-380. Cedar Falls wears its Main Street charm well, and charm is exactly what makes a drinking or drug problem easy to hide here. An hour away, hiding stops being the job. Most Cedar Falls admissions finish in under 24 hours.

Why Do Cedar Falls Residents Drive an Hour for Rehab?

Cedar Falls presents beautifully: the brick storefronts on Main, the college on the hill, the trails along the river. Towns like this are hard places to fall apart in public, so people do not. They drink at home, keep the pills private, and maintain the postcard until the postcard is the only thing left standing. Meanwhile College Hill runs its parallel economy of game days and house parties where using hard reads as belonging.

An hour southeast, the performance ends. Research on effective treatment is consistent that recovery has to address a person’s environment and relationships, not just the substance,[1] and for Cedar Falls that environment is often the very smallness that makes the town lovable: the same faces at Hy-Vee, on the trails, at the games. Distance grants the privacy the town cannot.

And an hour is nothing for the people who love you. Parents, spouses, and UNI roommates make family sessions after work and sleep in their own beds. Distance from the environment, closeness for the support system: that is the whole design.

Privacy the postcard can't give

An hour from the Main Street fishbowl and the College Hill party circuit.

UNI semesters protected

Medical leave coordination and return-to-campus planning handled with you.

Family an hour out

US-20 to I-380, one easy drive for sessions and weekend visits.

The full continuum

Detox, residential, PHP, and IOP that the Cedar Valley cannot offer locally.

The Addiction Problem Around Cedar Falls, in Numbers

Cedar Falls shares a county, and a drug supply, with one of Iowa’s most dangerous markets. A federal case sentenced in April 2026 documented fentanyl, heroin, and xylazine sold as one mixture in Black Hawk County, causing four non-fatal overdoses and a death, and the Cedar Falls Police Department sits on the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force that worked the case.[2] Xylazine does not respond to Narcan, which is why Black Hawk County Public Health now hands out free naloxone kits and urges every resident to carry one.[3]

For a university town, the youth numbers land hardest: overdose deaths among Iowans under 25 rose 120 percent between 2019 and 2022, driven by fentanyl pressed into counterfeit pills that look like study drugs and party favors.[4] Statewide, meth has led Iowa overdose deaths since passing opioids in 2024.[4]

None of this respects the line between the college and the town. If the drinking or the pills have outgrown the hiding, the answer is an hour away: (319) 270-2890.

Addiction Treatment Programs for Cedar Falls Residents

Radix Recovery is a full continuum campus an hour from Cedar Falls: medical detox, residential inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient continuing care under one clinical team. Most residents begin with 3 to 7 days of detox and step down as they stabilize, and at an hour, the outpatient levels remain a realistic commute. Alcohol, counterfeit pills, fentanyl, meth, cocaine, benzodiazepines: these eight programs cover the full picture.

Alcohol Detox

Whether it is College Hill weekends or quiet kitchen-counter drinking, stopping alone can be medically dangerous. Monitored withdrawal, 24/7 nursing, 3 to 7 days.

Alcohol Rehab

The work after the detox: structured therapy for the drinking and for the anxiety, perfectionism, or loneliness it has been quieting.

Drug Detox

Physician-led stabilization for fentanyl, counterfeit pills, xylazine-cut supply, meth, and benzodiazepines, with Suboxone and Vivitrol where indicated.

Inpatient Rehab

30, 60, or 90-day residential pathways with structured daily programming, an hour from Main Street and entirely out of its sightlines.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

4 to 8 hours of daily clinical programming with off-site living, the bridge before the drive back up I-380.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

3 days per week, 9 to 20 hours, commutable from Cedar Falls for students and professionals rebuilding their weeks.

Relapse Prevention & Continuing Care

Returning to a small town means returning to its patterns. The plan gets written before you go: triggers named, supports scheduled, therapy weekly.

Alumni Program

Radix community members across the Cedar Valley and the I-380 corridor keep recovery social through alumni events and peer support.

Serving UNI, College Hill, and Greater Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls is a university town and a river town sharing one main street. Addiction lives quietly in both halves, and we serve them both.

UNI Students & College Hill

From the residence halls to the College Hill rentals, student substance problems hide inside the social calendar until they will not. We treat young adults constantly: medical leave documentation, family communication with your consent, and return-to-campus planning that protects the degree and the GPA behind it.

Route: US-20 East to I-380 South. About an hour from campus.

Cedar Falls Proper & the North Side

Professionals, teachers, and families from downtown to the north side neighborhoods carry quieter versions of the same weight, often for years, because small towns reward keeping it together. An hour away, you can finally stop performing and start treating.

Route: US-20 East to I-380 South into Cedar Rapids. About an hour door to door.

Also serving Waverly, Denver, Janesville, Hudson, and Dike. If you can reach US-20, you can reach us.

Cedar Falls, IA Rehab Questions

Our campus is in Cedar Rapids, about an hour from Cedar Falls via US-20 East and I-380 South, and we serve Cedar Falls and UNI continuously. Travel, verification, and arrival timing are handled on the first call.

About 60 miles and roughly one hour: US-20 East to I-380 South, straight into Cedar Rapids.

Yes, regularly. We coordinate medical leave documentation, communicate with families only with your consent, and build return-to-campus plans so treatment costs a semester at most, not a degree.

The Cedar Valley has outpatient resources but no full residential continuum, and Black Hawk County’s documented drug supply, including xylazine-cut fentanyl, makes staying inside it during early recovery a real risk. An hour south buys the full continuum and clinical distance at once.

Yes, and it is the most common reason Cedar Falls calls, from College Hill weekends that stopped being optional to private drinking that outgrew the house. Treatment typically starts with 3 to 7 days of monitored alcohol detox, then steps down through the continuum.

Fentanyl pressed into fake Adderall, Xanax, and Percocet is the engine behind Iowa’s 120 percent rise in under-25 overdose deaths. We treat pill and fentanyl addiction daily: physician-led detox, the full continuum after it, and MAT options where clinically indicated.

Not from us. Federal confidentiality law protects your records, the campus is private, and an hour of distance means no familiar faces. What you share, and with whom, stays your call.

We are in network with Wellmark BCBS, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Midlands Choice, Cigna Healthcare, Health Choice, and Medical Associates, and we accept Iowa Medicaid through Wellpoint Iowa and Iowa Total Care. Verification is free: (319) 270-2890.

Usually in under 24 hours. Insurance is verified on the first call, screening happens the same day, and with only an hour of road, same-day arrival is common when a bed is open.

An Hour From Main Street. Free of Its Sightlines.

One confidential call starts everything: free insurance verification, a clinical assessment, and an arrival window that can be as soon as today.
